3rd Future Congress on Managing the Social Economy

(Own) responsibility - this is the motto of the third ZukunftsKongress Sozialwirtschaft managen: on May 21 and 22, 2025, once again at the Zeche Zollverein in Essen. The organizers, Evangelisches Johanneswerk, Curacon and the Ecclesia Group, have chosen this focus topic for the networking event because the current challenges in the social economy and independent welfare work cannot be solved exclusively by the state and politics. Rather, it is important to take individual and collective responsibility as a social economy and make it the central maxim for action.

Three exciting keynotes are on the agenda for the opening event, which will shed light on the importance of responsibility in an increasingly complex and dynamic social environment: Julia Ledermann, Chairwoman of the Advisory Board of edding AG, the President of Diakonie Deutschland Pastor Rüdiger Schuch and Cawa Younosi, Managing Director of the Diversity Charter, will use concrete practical examples and visionary approaches in their keynote speeches to show participants how responsibility can be actively shaped and transformed into sustainable structures.

“Social economy organizations that assume (personal) responsibility create the basis for sustainable innovation and social progress - they become the engine for positive change in society.”

– Gunnar Pepping

Three panels on the following topics are planned to provide participants with further impetus and inspiration for a new, responsible management culture:

  • Personnel and transformation - from managing to shaping
  • Sustainable management: pure responsibility - and much more than just the report
  • Restructuring, reorganization, insolvency - does not stop at the social economy?

Here too, renowned speakers will discuss the individual topics from different angles and provide participants with best practices. For the first time this year, the program will be rounded off by two workshops, which will deal with practice-relevant topics from various fields of activity in the social economy as an additional offer before the start of the congress.

This year's event will once again provide industry stakeholders with a platform for discussing the future of the social economy and developing ideas and new perspectives.
